Vaishnava Maharaj spent three weeks in November
enchanting and enthusing audiences in three New
England states with his soulful bhajan and kirtan
performances. Maharaj travelled to six towns,
performing in some of the biggest yoga centers in
this part of the USA, where Krishna Das and other
well-known kirtan leaders have recently performed.
Vaishnava Swami, as he was introduced to the
crowds, presented a uniquely captivating combination
mantra chants, interspersed with original renditions
of classic compositions on 12-string acoustic guitar
and thought-provoking spiritual talks. With his
heart-warming harmonium melodies and masterful
mrdanga rhythms, Maharaj led audiences in chanting
the Holy Names of Radha and Krishna with great
fervour. After the chanting performances, the people
were served a delicious feast of prasadam prepared
by local devotees.
One of the highlights of the tour was the Goverdhan
Puja Program held at the beautiful Karuna Center for
Yoga and Healing Arts in Western Massachusetts. At
this event, in addition to the sweet musical
enchantment by Vaishnava Maharaj, the audience was
captivated by the story-telling of Krishna's
Govardhan Hill lila and colorful arati ceremony as
succulent prasadam of burfi and luglu were offered
to the Lord and then distributed to the those in
attendance.
It was clear from the reaction of people to these
programs, that they were all absolutely astounded by
the musical, culinary and spiritual quality of the
events. Many folks were eager to obtain CD
recordings of Vaishnava Maharaj and were anxious to
find out when they could look forward to attending
more of these programs in the future. Due to the
success of this tour, plans for organizing more
elaborate events in this part of the USA are already
being made for next year.
