About diets

There are some devotees who have some special diets out of different reasons, and this is good as long as it can be done. But under no circumstances should a devotee get angry while doing his diet. Whether because the other do not follow his ideas, or because he is being frustrated by following his diet artificially. So if you are on diet, then do it quietly and do not disturb others. A diet is something like a little sadhana, except some diets are out of healthy reasons. So if you say for example "I am not going to eat any sweets", this is good. So you will be less lusty. But when the other eat sweets and you start trembling or maybe chastising them, this means only that you are yourself attached to sweets. Or if someone only eats once a day, this is also good. But do not make issues of your personal austerities. This is not good for you and not good for others.

I can remember my old friend Purujit. He has read in the Bhagavad Gita, that devotees should not eat much. So we brahmacaris, we where eating quite some prasadam, but Purujit was fixed on that, that devotees schould not eat much. So he was always looking on our plates and chastising us. Once he brought a very small cup and he started eating only from this cup, which was of course only half filled. So this was going on for some days or something. He was always making some remarks about our eating but we saw, how he got more and more disturbed. We were almost laughing, but we did not, so that he may not get offended. So after some more days Purujit came all for sudden with a huge plate, confessing that he can not tolerate any more. So we should not do anything artificially.

Try to be natural in everything you do

And there is one more thing I want to tell you here. Please take care that you eat clean and healthy food. You see, we are preaching healthy lifestyle, ecological awareness and simple living and high thinking, so we should also live according to that, what we are preaching. Do not buy and consume all this poisons, like cacacola and other stuff which is only destroying your health. So it is not even really a tapasya to renounce this garbage, because the devotees, they eat anyway very delicious food. Who can compare a nice made halava with this chemical sweet with all it emulgators and other additives in it. We are falling more and more victim to this products. All this chemicals are there to make you addicted. You are getting addicted to different kicks which this chemicals produce and you think that you are eating something, what you are not actually eating. You see, with chemicals you can produce any smell you want or any taste. You just have to bring some rose or any other thing and they can make for you the same smell with chemicals. So try to be natural and stay natural in everything you do.
